Vietnam is rapidly developing as a shopping destination for international travelers, and a number of travelers are sold in Vietnamese art and Vietnamese clothing. In Vietnam, it is Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hoi An that offer some great shopping opportunities.
You can buy art items called 'instant antiques' on the streets of Vietnam for less than $3: these are ceramic cups painted by street artists. You can also buy traditional painting for a song, but make sure that you don't buy any real antiques; Vietnam government doesn't allow export of antiques.
When in Vietnam, it makes sense to dress like the Vietnamese. You can get the traditional Vietnamese outfit for $10 to $20, but if you want a fashionable outfit made especially for you, it will cost a little more.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has come up with a scheme that focuses on sea and island tourism to develop the Vietnam tourism industry within the next ten years. Various travel agencies have responded with a promise to design more sea and island tours that will aid in attracting both national and international Vietnam travel enthusiasts. The Head of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, Dr. Ha Van Sieu feels that the spin-off from sea and island development plan will create many sea-related products like water sports and resorts. Vietnam travel could become big, especially since a lot of tourists are now bored of the more famous beach destinations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean; new beach attractions could boost Vietnam tourism in quite a positive manner.

If you are planning a trip to Vietnam, travel tips from a hotel booking site suggest a visit to Phu Quoc Island is a must. Phu Quoc Island is located in the Gulf of Thailand, off the south coast of Cambodia and west of Vietnam. This is Vietnam's largest island, featuring mountainous terrain covered in thick tropical jungle.

Just last year, the Phu Quoc National Park became a part of the Unesco World Biosphere Reserve for its unique plant species and marine ecosystems. The island has been likened to Phuket, pre-development. It offers idyllic tropical beaches along with some tourist infrastructure, while also maintaining its local charm. The main town of Duong Dong still feels like a sleepy fishing village, and the island is famous for its seafood, including a local fish sauce made from anchovies.
